Sound confusion---

First of all, I'm going to vent.  I HATE that I have to follow a basal. Granted there are some good points in it, but some of the CRAP is just too hard for my firsties.  For example, our spelling words this week were to contain the ch and tch sound...not to mention the wh- sounds. Sure, I can whip up a sort (which I did), throw out the spelling rules (which I did), BUT---those stinkin words, IMO, they are just not ready for!  I changed a few of my words around this week.  I THOUGHT we had the wh- sound down until I gave them a pretest to see what words they knew.  Those silly wh- words stared with just a plain old W.  Back to reviewing for us---which means I have a freebie for you.

If you're kiddos are struggling with w- and wh- words......here's a picture sort for you.  you can click on the pictures to grab it.  Just like my homework post (you can click HERE if you didn't see it), if you find these helpful/useful, let me know with a comment and I can continue posting them for you.  I guess I think that everyone loves freebies?  I dunno?  I see download action, so I hope you can use them.

I also posted a new item in my TPT store.  It's a contraction activity with not.  Here's a pic of the activity. IF you click the pic, it will take you to the store.

Have a happy evening---we're almost through the work week (those of us that had to go back!)

  1. You must use Treasures. There is sooo much stuff that you just never get too. This is our second year to use it and I am understanding it's thinking better this year.

  2. Treasures includes a lot, but I found Reading Street was about as bad!

Here, we usually pronounce the "w" and "wh" words the SAME at the beginning! It makes it so hard for them to differentiate!
