I've made Reese Cup cupcakes before, but these were filled and used a different frosting. I topped mine with reese cups though. These were "good". I think I like them better without the filling but this frosting OH MY GOODNESS!! I could eat it by the bowlful! They are now tucked away in my freezer so I don't lick the frosting off of all of them! ;)
I guess I did get some other things accomplished today. Last night I posted a sight word game, and some long U/silent e activities. You can see it here. Today I made some activities to go with the actual stories in Treasures. This will be for June Robot Cleans Up.
Here are the story questions I will send home for homework.
Here's the story quiz--using some questions that came originally with the series.
I have a few more things to share with you, but first, a couple of things from a couple of blog readers.
From Gordon---he posted a couple math riddles onto his website. They were interesting. I thought I'd share his link.
From Christi--(she has started a blog, but is a busy mom to 3 boys and we all know how that is)--she added to the Football Workstation Activities that I posted. Here it is:
And just a few more things for you.....I had made these games earlier in the year, and it fits PERFECTLY with what we're doing in math now. I thought I'd repost them.
I've also had many compliments and have noticed several pins of the homework tic-tac-toe boards. Here are 2 more. One for language, one for math.
Thank you to all my fabulous followers. I never imagined having more than a handful of followers (and I thought they would be family and co-workers)--so thank you. I hope that you have found many things on here to use (or give you ideas to implement/change in your own classroom). I truly enjoy making things for my students and to share with you! The comments are always so nice to see too!
Those cupcakes look uh-mazing!!! Yum!!

I love the idea of homework tic tac toe. I always feel like I'm changing up homework this year since I'm new to second grade. Thanks for sharing, so I have some new ideas to consider for next year!

Thanks again for the tic tac toe homework, which my students love! I have a couple of questions. Do you send home homework packets or are these sheets that you send home one day and they return it the next?
ReplyDeleteThe cupcakes were good (the filling is thick--the next time I think I will add a little milk to it and "fill" them after they bake). The icing is AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like the Tic-Tac-Toe boards. How I use them is:
I give one sheet to students on Monday. They are turned back in on Friday. I alternate between math and language. I don't do homework packets. As a parent, I hate homework--that is just "busy" work. I like to send home things that will challenge my high, and review for my low. We do other homework too. On Mondays, I send home a phonics reader that we've read and discussed in class. They just reread it for homework to their parents and bring it back signed to put in their browsing bag. Tuesdays are math review. Wednesdays they take home their reading book and I've started giving the story questions that are posted. Thursday's are spelling/phonics--in hopes to remind parents to help them study their spelling words. I place the homework in their folder every morning and they return it the next day. This is just easier for me to manage. I know some teachers do packets, but I'm not that organized :)
I love the question sheet that you made for June Robot. This would make good homework for my kids. Do you have them for all of the stories?

Thanks Kristy. I just started making these when we hit the 4th book so I've only made 2. One for Pelican Was Hungry (which I posted last week) and then this one. I am hoping to continue making them through the remainder of the year.
ReplyDeleteThose cupcakes look soooo yummy! And thanks for posting the homework tic-tac-toe. I gave the last ones you posted to some of my high students and they just loved it! Thanks for sharing. They'll enjoy these this week.
