Whatta Couple Weeks (and a Freebie!)

First of all, let me start off with saying that the past two weeks  have been CRAZY!! It feels like Halloween was a month ago, and that it should already be Christmas. That's how long last week up to today has felt. Before I go on, I must say--I envy those bloggers that can take pictures and share all the great things that they are doing, and I have good intentions of doing that, but I can never find the time to take pictures, or it's a quick picture with my cell phone (which usually turns into shaky images, because I'm snapping with one hand and working with a student with another). That is my goal between now and the end of the year---to take better pictures or more pictures of what is going on in my room. BUT, just for the record, my classroom is not picture perfect. It is lived in. I have not spent a lot of money in it to cutesify (yep, it's a word) so please don't judge me on my classroom images. Last week, as I had said, was crazy. I started out  planning on doing a little "theme" a day. We were finishing up Erica's bat unit.

We made Teri's (AKA A Cupcake for the Teacher) bat to finish up our unit.

I had to zoom in on this one because I loved the eyelashes!!

Then we were out one day last week for the snow (yep, SNOW!)  I had told my FB friends this a few weeks ago:
Sure enough, there was----hopefully there will be more too!!  :)

Then we had a few more crazy days and I don't even know what I did, but somewhere in the mix of all of it, I did snap these pictures!

This picture comes from Teaching with Style's Pumpkin Life Cycle Unit.  It was perfect with the activities included in it, and this page was PERFECT for a quick check morning work assessment.
I love the pumpkins on the door...so much in fact they are still there! I guess I can keep pumpkins up through the fall right? :)  This craftivity came from Alisha's (AKA The Bubbly Blonde) All About Pumpkin Unit.

There were many other great things we have done through the week, but unfortunately I didn't get to snap up pictures, and my little dude had.has pneumonia, so Momma was staying home with him.

Then the election kinda snuck up on me. I mean, how did I not realize that it was happening?  I even had a phone call at 2:00 A.M Sunday (from my state, so they knew what time it was).  But, apparently I'm a last minuter and I searched on TpT last night for some election day  fun.

I rigged up a quick little election booth area, yeah---nothing fancy.  We looked on the internet pictures of what polls used to look like when I was little (with closed curtains), talked about how it is now electronic, how it is all secret and it is your right to vote, and once you go into your "booth", no one really knows what you put on your paper/screen.    This activity was voting for Farmer Brown or Duck.  It comes from Lisa over at Learning is Something to Treasure.   Gladys over at Teaching in High Heels also came to my rescue with her wonderful packet with this great reader for the kiddos.  Here my kiddos are coloring in it (we had already read and discussed it).

We also have been playing Arlene from LMN Tree's Don't Get Skunked-Treasures Edition sight word game.  I'm not doing her game justice, but my kidos loved playing.  Check it out, Treasures fans!

Here are some of my stations we are doing this week.

Don't Get Cooked--CVC Word Game

They are from my new packet "STUFFED" with Thanksgiving Fun.

Click HERE to see it on TpT.

As you can see, I'm gearing towards the holidays. I even started a linky party this weekend.  It's a yummy one.  Check it out.

One more awesome thing going on.
Have you checked out the giveaway on A Cupcake for a Teacher's Blog?
Click the picture above to check it out! :)

If you made it all the way through this post, you deserve a freebie! :)

You can click the cover page above to grab yourself a freebie! :)

While I'm posting freebies, I tried my hand at making a little turkey!  Here's a picture of him/her.

You can click <<HERE>> if you want a copy of my template.  For the pilgrim buckle, I just cut a rectangle with rounded edges, with a rectangle inside.  The pattern is most likely to small for little fingers, but is a great way to review shapes and symmetry (or if  you are an Envision math user---that will be a good  review for my upcoming unit).

Enjoy the rest of your week friends! :)

  11. I am right there with you on the picture taking DeAnne. With a bunch of little people who are either constantly sticky or have markers pretty much drawing on each other it is hard to find time to snap the pictures that are not phone pictures. Maybe I will make that my New Year's resolution? Haha. Loving what your kids have been doing and I have a post ready to go for tomorrow to link up with your food linky :) Thanks for the freebie. Love it!!!
