Feedly---A Google Reader Replacement

Did you know that Google Reader is going away?  I was CRUSHED when I heard the news.  Sad day it was for me especially when I love using it to follow from my phone.  I had to have a new way to follow all those GREAT blogs that are out there.  After spending some time looking for new readers, I choose to try out Feedly.  I made a quick little tutorial on Feedly.  I'm still learning about it, but so far I really like what I see.

So today's tip

Using Feedly

  1. Hi DeAnne,
Thanks for the information about Feedly. I was wondering if you've explored Bloglovin' and if you prefer Feedly over it. If so, would you mind sharing differences between them and explain why you chose Feedly?

    Thanks,
    Wendy

    1. I checked out Bloglovin', and I do prefer Feedly. It's just a personal preference. Both are a great way to keep up with all the great blogs. What I like the most about Feedly is the index button. I like that I can see all blogs I follow. I believe with Bloglovin' only the blogs with unread posts come up as a sidebar. I also like that with Feedly, when in the index, it's all in the center of my page on one screen where I don't have to see the blogs on the sidebar.

With Feedly, if you want to go back and "unread" a post, or save it for later, you have that option. When using Bloglovin' I wasn't able to find a quick search button for blogs which makes it easier for me to crate tags should I choose. I like the tagging feature of Feedly.

I also like the fact that I don't have to go through the full article if I don't want. I like the little "snippet" of posts.

Again, it's just a personal preference. I liked Google Reader, but this for me is a great alternative.

  2. I was wondering the same as Wendy above. I've been hearing about Bloglovin' so Feedly is new to me. Thanks for sharing though. I'm going to check it out.

  3. THANK YOU! I am going with your recommendation and awesome tutorial is pinned to computer favorites!! I did look at the Bloglovin and then got discouraged with having to change. I am so scared to do something new. I will miss Google reader.
