Classroom Games

I love playing games in the classroom to get the kids moving, and to have some fun.  I'm one of those teachers who likes "fluff" in her life.  I can't just do the same ole', same ole'---it gets boring.  Don't get me wrong---I have a very structured routine, but there's variety in that routine.  Here are some of the games that we play in class:

I Have, Who Has (a few posted on here and you can do a quick search for more) The rules in my classroom are:
1) I give everyone their own card, or sometimes they have helpers.  I give them a few minutes to read it, and ask questions if necessary.
2) I ask who has the star card or the first card.  That person stands up and reads their card. Then sits back down.
3) The person who has the answer cards pop up, reads their card, then sits back down.  Play continues until you reach the first card.

 Scoot--
I have TONS of task cards that either fabulous teachers from Proteacher or myself have made.  I use these task cards (review cards) to play this fabulous game called Scoot.  You can read about it on Proteacher  or click here for the game board and directions. I will be making more task cards to share as the school year goes on.

 Sparkle--
I have played this game for years (even in my methods classes in college)--it's a quick game. Here's how:
To play students stand around their desks/tables/or even in a straight line in the room.   The teacher (or winning student of the previous game, if desired) calls out a word.  Let's say the word is CAT.  The first person says C.   The second person says A.  The third person says T. The next person would say "Sparkle" The following person would sit down.  Play would continue around the room until there is a winner left. When my classroom plays, I do not repeat the word and I do not repeat the letter.  (If a mistake is made, I just quietly point my finger down.  I don't want ridicule or laughing....it's just a fun, quick way to practice their spelling words.) If a mistake is made, the next person starts the word all over.

VersaTiles---ever heard of these?  Check it out!

Ohh---and I love interactive whiteboards, and all the bingo games that I can use to review with my kiddos.....LOVE having Fun Fridays! :)
