Tuesday Tip

Do you ever feel like your desk or classroom looks like this???

I hate to admit this---BUT---if you know me personally, you know that I'm extremely OCD about messes.  My poor kiddos at home and school have learned quickly that everything has a place and a place for everything---otherwise (mom) or Mrs. Davis goes BONKERS!!!!  Ohh I mean it too.  At least I can't admit I have a problem, right?

See, this is my teacher desk.  Notice how the papers are in neat piles----yep, my kiddos did that. LOL, they even know to see that all the papers are turned the right way---is that wrong?  ;)

Okay, so now you know that I like neat and tidy.  I've shared this before, but this is how I store all my centers that I create on the computer.  I'm all about CHEAP and easy.  This is an affordable way to keep track of all your goodies that you print or create.

You need the following:

After my centers are laminated (I don't always laminate the direction cards, I stick them in a sleeve protector to save on lamination.), I store all my little pieces (sorting pictures, game cards) inside a ziploc sandwich or quart bag.  My direction sheet, and recording sheets (and extras after the centers are finished for the week) are all placed inside a shet protector.  I then stick all the pieces inside a gallon bag.   I'm lucky that I have a TON of storage in my classroom, so I stick them in my glass cabinets and keep them in the order that I've done them so that I can pull them out for next year (if we keep the same reading series).  Since it's all being placed in clear pages/bags, you can easily see what you're grabbing.  Another suggestion (if I didn't have my cabinet space), would be to store them in binders and label them by the month.

Here's a picture---it's not a great image, but hopefully you can see what I mean:
See how easily it all slides together????

And you can see my cabinets for storage---I love my room for hiding all the clutter---if only the cabinet doors weren't glass lol! :)

There's my tip of the day----I hope it made sense, but I'm also in the process of making cupcakes! YUMMY!!!  So I'm up to my neck in batter! ;)  Have a great evening!!! :)

  2. Wow, I can't believe how much storage you have! I like the way you organized everything. I would like to do something like that. Since I don't have that much cabinet space, I thought I might put each units "stuff" in a tub separated by week. Maybe I'll have time to do it this summer... Thanks for the idea!

  5. thanks for the tips. I love sheet protectors! My problem is finding the time to get everything away. I always find myself planning the next thing before "the paint is dry" so to speak. Tomorrow is a work day-You've inspired me to organize.

  6. Oh my gosh, I can't believe your cabinets have glass doors. The builder obviously knew NOTHING about how much unattractive stuff teachers acquire!
Love your blog - feel free to stop by mine when you have a chance. I found you on TBTS.
